New year, new possibilities

2010 was not a good year glasswise for me, with some exeptions;
1. I had two glass classes at http://www.glasforum.no/ with Karl Herron and Catharine Newell. I haven't done much glass after the class, but I made these (not good photos).

and this;

I also went to New York, had a great time and visited a good friend http://www.kremerglass.com/. His studio is amazing and he is pretty amazing too.

In 2011 I should probobly not be taking any classes, just work, but I have just been browsing the new course catalog at http://www.glassforum.no/ and this cought my eye; http://www.mamut.net/glassforum/KURS%20417%20GRAFISK%20DESIGN.PDF
It's in Norwegian, sorry, but you can see it's a class with Carrie Iverson - me wants - me needs:o)
I also saw this; http://www.mamut.net/glassforum/KURS%20418%20DET%20PERFEKTE%20OBJEKT.PDF with Karl Herron, it's not fair, all these temptations...

I am soon of to my class, yay

Next week I am going to my class at Glassforum. The instructor is Karl Herron from Ireland, you can read more about his class here; http://www.mamut.net/GlassForumInternational/subdet191.htm

I just heard there are several flights cancelled from Ireland and Great Brittain due to the vulcanic eruptions in Iceland, and I hope it doesn't interfere with my class - yes I am selfish, I know.

Keep reading the blogg, I will be back with pictures from the class, and a review.....

Glass classes in Norway

I know I said I should take fewer classes and work more instead, but the Glassforum schedule for 2010 is out and I am tempted, so very very tempted. How can I resist a Catharine Newell class? Just look at her work; http://www.bullseyegallery.com/Artist-Detail.cfm?ArtistsID=290 or the class Karl Harron is teaching? I saw some of his work in person in some galleries in Dublin, and they are really really good, see for yourself; http://theglasstudioireland.com/

Jane Bruce http://janebruce.com/index.htm and Steve Klein http://www.bullseyegallery.com/Artist-Detail.cfm?ArtistsID=284 is teaching and so is Peter McGrain http://petermcgrain.com/gallery/

It's remarkable really, we are really fortunate to get a lot of good teachers in glass to come to Norway. The little country in the Northern part of Europe, a really pretty part of Europe, but still. Just look at this schedule; http://www.mamut.net/GlassForumInternational

SOFA Chicago

In November 2009 I went to a major exibit called SOFA in Chicago and met a lot of glassfriends. It was great, just great:o) I also visited some great glassfriends in Las Vegas and New York. Carol Carson in Las Vegas, look at her work here; http://carolcarsonglass.blogspot.com/ and Marty Kremer in New York; www.kremerglass.com/.

I had so much fun in Chicago, mostly because meeting friends are always fun, but also since Chicago is a very nice city and it's lots and lots to do if you are interested in the arts and shopping like me.

So, a few pictures from SOFA;

Miriam Di Fiore (Italy)

Steffen Dam (Denmark)

Mari Mèszàros (Hungary/Netherlands)

Klaus Moje (Australia)

As I mentioned earlier I met some great glass friends and some spouses too. Lisa Allen, a very talented artist from Memphis USA http://lisa-allen.com/, Barbara Muth from Washington DC http://www.barbaramuthglass.com/, Jaye Houle from Talahasse Florida http://www.dragonflyglass.biz/index.html and Doug Randall, Portland Oregon.

Kirstie Rea class

I was so fortunate to have the possibility to go to a Kirstie Rea class at GlassForum (http://www.glassforum.no/) in Norway. Kirstie is a talented artist and a gifted teacher, so the whole experience was great. You can see some of her work here; http://www.bullseyegallery.com/Artist-Detail.cfm?ArtistsID=292

Here are some of the things we did (excuse the photos);
